There should be a toggle in Options, like any other change to a UI usually has. I have trouble finding friends/guildies in town (seeing anything in town for that matter). Its in town that I dislike it the most.

I also like it. It's a nice little style change. And coming from where I set my browser to display at 90% instead of 100%, small resolutions, small text in windows... etc etc etc. This is nice. Doesn't hurt my eyes one bit!
And, to the chaps who have trouble finding guildies/allience mates... they're guild tags are different. Guildies are gold, and I forget teh colour for allience chaps.

This is my only real issue with it. I don't hate it; it's kinda neat to have two mobs in front of you and know exactly who's in the closer mob so you don't aggro another set of enemies by going for their monk. N-not that I've done anything that stupid, of course. >_> But obviously people are getting eye strain and headaches, so I have to agree with everyone else. Give us the option to switch it off.
I'm mostly surprised that with all the real issues and bugs people bring to ANet's attention here and in the Technical Issues forum, they thought this was a priority feature.

My main issue is not being able to 'see' people well in towns. From a distance its impossible to distinguish names. Similarly, I also have an issue with the dark blue color chosen for people who are members of a team.
Although some positive uses for the change, I believe it should be up to the player whether they want to use this feature. I'm not sure what problem ANet was trying to solve with this change. Fix things, don't add more things to fix ...

Personally, I love it. It helps me in solo farming and vanquishing to know how many foes are in a particular group and whether those other "red" names are in the same group or further away. Now I can easily tell what foes are in each group.
I was amazed that of all the changes ANet could have made, this is one they took the time to program in, but whatever..maybe it didn't take that long.
I guess that if people hate it this much, they could make an option to turn it off.

Well, anyone can make out the difference between grey and grayed items.
Bind the 'B' key to 'Select nearest item' and mash B,SPACE.
If you don't move to the item, it's not yours.
